The Top 10 Most Viewed YouTube Videos of April
It’s here folks, the moment you’ve all been waiting for…the results for the most popular YouTube videos of April are in! As forecasted, Jimmy Fallon was a popular guy yet again, Star Wars made its return, and movie trailers reigned. Tune in to find out more about April’s hits!
ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY Official Teaser Trailer
Uhh okay so no one told me they were going to start making Star Wars spin-off movies that take place in the same universe but follow different characters and storylines…that makes the possibilities endless!! This trailer got me so excited—it looks so good. The movie is apparently set just before the events of A New Hope, the first film in the original trilogy, so you’ll have to keep that in mind while watching it. Jyn, the main character, is almost Katniss Everdeen-esque, and the action level seems to be through the roof. I don’t know about you, but I’m pumped.
Brothers Convince Little Sister of Zombie Apocalypse
Viral post-wisdom teeth surgery videos always make me wish I had recorded those hazy moments after my own such surgery, because the scenarios that YouTubers capture always seem to be internet gold. In this example, two brothers go to great lengths to convince their teenaged sister that the zombie apocalypse had begun while she was unconscious. I applaud their effort and planning, but their sister’s reactions (and her total belief of the unfolding situation) still have to be the best parts of the video.
Game of Thrones Season 6: Trailer #2 (HBO)
I need to start this commentary by saying that I think I’m the only person on this earth who hasn’t yet watched or gotten obsessed with Game of Thrones. Because of this, I decided to get some input from a devoted fan, who suggested that this trailer was pretttty exciting, as it would be for any huge fan of the show. I’ll leave it to a fellow Execublogger to talk about what’s so exciting about this season, and how much there is to look forward to!
I actually couldn’t believe it when I heard the news about Prince’s death. He was only in his 50s, how could this be?? But I guess life works in mysterious ways, and there’s no doubt that he will be dearly missed. Since his death, there have been a ton of tribute videos released. This video in particular, which shows Adam Levine of Maroon 5 and Train performing Purple Rain, is fantastic. We can only hope that Prince would be proud!
TAYLOR vs. TREADMILL
If you’ve ever felt the desire to see Taylor Swift fall flat on her face, this video is for you. It’s another uncharacteristically “funny” Apple ad (refer to ‘The Kiss’, one of March’s most popular YouTube videos), so it looks like the tech company is switching up their advertising strategy dramatically. And according to social media buzz and view count, it’s working – I can’t even tell you how many times I heard about this video before actually watching it. Who knew so many people wanted to watch T-Swift fight a treadmill and lose!
Marvel's Doctor Strange Teaser Trailer
I don’t think I can deal with any more amazing movie trailers. It’s making my “to-see” list way too long. This one is about Marvel’s Doctor Strange and stars Benedict Cumberbatch, with Tilda Swinton playing The Ancient One. This trailer is mind-blowing and incredible and turns reality upside-down, so I can only imagine what it would be like to watch the full movie on the big screen. Probably disorienting and enlightening all at once. Yup, this one is definitely going on my list.
Lip Sync Battle with Melissa McCarthy
Jimmy Fallon is back at it again with the celebrity guests and the laughs. This time his guest star is Melissa McCarthy, known for her roles in Gilmore Girls, Bridesmaids, and more recently, Spy. It seems that the more I watch Jimmy Fallon, the more I like him. He was an incredible lip-syncer (if that’s a title one can hold) and dancer in this video. What an entertainer! Melissa McCarthy’s second song was especially fun, but Jimmy still takes the win in my mind. Click the link to see if you agree!
Swiss Army Man | Official Trailer HD | A24
Well, I’m not sure what I just watched. I am an avid Paul Dano fan, so I was very excited to see him pop up in the first 5 seconds, but then things got weird. Daniel Radcliffe washed up on shore and acted as an axe, a motorboat, and a bunch of other random inanimate objects. Like, a “Swiss Army” human instead of the more commonly found Swiss Army Knife? As in, he has many practical uses? I have no idea, but this movie looks insane – hopefully in a good way.
LEMONADE Trailer | HBO
What is this lemonade, and why does it make Beyoncé so upset? This video is the “trailer” not only for Beyoncé’s new album, but also for the hour-long video she made to accompany it. You can only buy the video and album on Tidal, which complicates things, and may be the reason I still know little about their release, other than that there has been a ton of controversy and media speculation about the meaning behind the album. A lot of the songs, lyrics, and video footage apparently suggests that Jay-Z was unfaithful to Beyoncé, and now critics are trying to figure out whether this was just album fluff or a retelling of a real-life situation. All I know is that no actual lemonade appears in the video, which is wholly disappointing and altogether confusing if you ask me.
Snowden Official Trailer
It’s so cool that they made a movie about Edward Snowden! If you don’t know what this guy is all about, you should. He’s one of the most important people of our generation and has a very interesting story to tell about national privacy in the digital age. I’m all for seeing it on the big screen – especially if the wonderful Joseph Gordon-Levitt is involved.
There you have it, kids, a concise list of April’s thriving videos. Make sure to mark your calendars with any movies you want to see, and remember that if you flail wildly while on a treadmill, you WILL fly off and break your bones. I hope this edition of Execulink’s Most Viewed YouTube Videos has been informative, and have a wonderful Friday!

Converse have been my footwear of choice for the past 9 years, I’m convinced that all doors and sidewalks are conspiring against me, and I enjoy sticking my head out of the passenger window on long car rides.
