How to E-Sign a Document

How to Sign a Document Electronically

Skip the printer! Learn how to sign documents electronically and replace handwritten signatures for almost any personal or business need.

What is an E-Signature?

“E-sign” stands for electronic signature. You’ll often hear both terms used interchangeably, and they mean the same thing. (You can even use “e-sign” as a verb — as in “to e-sign a document.”)

But if you’re creating an electronic signature that’s backed by a digital certificate—for extra identity verification and security—that’s called a digital signature.

Here’s how to add your electronic signature to a document we send you:

  1. Open the e-mail sent from sales agent requesting signature.
  2. Click the link “review and sign” which will take you to the Adobe acrobat page.
  3. Review the quote/contract details to ensure accuracy
  4. Click the customer signature box to add your signature
  5. Click the “title” box and enter your business title
  6. A blue bar will pop up at the bottom – click Submit
  7. If the document was successfully sent you will get a notification page that says “you’re all set!”

Why Use E-Signatures?

E-signing offers a lot of benefits, whether you’re working on personal or business documents.

Save time — No printing, mailing, or chasing people down for signatures.
Sign on the go — Sign and send documents from any device, anytime.
Stay organized — Keep track of signatures and document status without digging through paper files.

Is E-Signing Secure?

Most e-signature tools come with built-in security features like authentication, password protection, and document encryption. These tools help prevent unauthorized edits and protect your information.

For even more security—especially when identity verification is critical—use digital signatures backed by a certificate.

What Types of Documents Can You E-Sign?

You can e-sign nearly any type of document! With tools like Adobe Acrobat, you can sign:

  • Microsoft Word files (DOC, DOCX)
  • Excel spreadsheets (XLS, XLSX)
  • PowerPoint presentations (PPT, PPTX)
  • Image files (BMP, GIF, JPG, JPEG, PNG)

E-signing is a fast, easy way to get approvals and agreements—without the hassle of printing and scanning.
